So after the drama of the past few weeks.... here it goes...

After going to the hospital and having the false alarm last week....I went in a few days later because I wasnt feeling the baby move that much. Everything seemed to be fine with baby except that they looked at the culture of my so called bladder infection..and I didnt have one. What this meant is that I was having pre-term labor and that I was at very high risk of having our little girl early. Well the story goes on...

A few days after that I felt like my water was leaking so I went in (Monday May 7th) to the hospital and they said I was 2cm dialated so that its best for me to try and walk around the hospital grounds and come back up to the maternity ward in a few hours. I had Jonathan meet me up there and we went back up to the maternity ward for them to check me. Not thinking anything of it...we were chatting and all of a sudden I heard and felt a "pop". Seconds later my water broke. That was around 2:30pm Monday. After a few hours of intense contractions I finally opted for the epidural. We got into our own delivery room around 10:30pm and got started finally on the epidural. I went from 2-10cm in an hour or so and our little girl was born at 12:01am Tuesday Morning! She was 4 weeks early so there was concern for her health. When she came out she had her umbilical cord wrapped around her thigh and foot and she was blue! The few minuets it took before the nurses got her breathing were the scariest of my life! I could care less how many stitches I needed or what kind of pain I was in! She finally started crying and everything went pretty normal from there! So she was born 6lbs 10z, 18.5 inches long. Not too bad for being so early! Mikayla Elizabeth is her name- this being the only secret until she was born! Her middle name after mine and it goes back quite a few generations on my mom's side of the family. Anyways that's Mikayla's birth story- I'll write a bit more later about whats happening now. WE are home from the hospital and doing well-

So far so good-
35 weeks today! I am still going strong but had quite the eventful weekend. This past week went smooth and seemed to be pretty normal for the amount of pain/irritability until I started getting these crazy leg pains. Friday evening I was advised that it was better to get things check out so Jonathan and I headed up to the hospital. After being there only a few minuets. I started getting contractions...not only were they hard contractions-but they were about 3 minutes apart! Well this went on for about an hour and a half and then seemed to calm down. Little did I know that me missing my regular Cranberry Juice routine would catch up to me! I was diagnosed with a bladder infection that cause early labor! So what did we learn kids? Drink your cranberry juice! That alone got us realizing we needed to be way more prepared than we were so Saturday we did a full house cleaning and went shopping for a car seat. That alone was an adventure! We picked out the best quality car seat we could find at our local Toys "R" Us store and thought we made a pretty good pick. Went and paid for the item and waited for it to come out from their inventory/ stock room area. After waiting for 20 minutes we started to wonder if there really was a car seat available or if they sold us one that wasn't there anymore. Just our luck they could not find the one that was supposedly in stock. After the millionth apology from the young girl working there we refunded our entire purchase- while we were in line to return everything someone came in with an opened box and returned the same car seat! How scary is that- they didn't question them and it from the looks would have been fine but what if that had just got in an accident! we would have never known! So we went to the small pricey store in the mall and purchased an even nicer one. I have to say as far as safety goes we spent a small chunk of change but this little girl is going to be as safe as we can make her! Bringing this home set a reality check for us knowing that in just a few short weeks (or sooner) our little girl will be sitting in that car seat! Anyways I'm back at work and hopefully wont have any more false alarms!

Happy 33 Weeks! Well this past week was short and full of fun...
Corrina had her first puppy training class and I was amazed to see she is one of the most well behaved dogs there...much to her credit she is not the most patient when Addie gets the attention (click the video clip) http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=1138438249138746389
Jonathan took a well deserved trip down to Salt Lake to see a Jazz Basketball game and visit with family. And I stayed back to man the fort...or should I say...shear the dogs!
Here is a short clip of Corrina- http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=-5412746023867360102 she looks like a German Shorthair!
So after the too many phone calls to count I realized that I missed Jonathan just as crazy as he missed me. Sometimes its good to remind each other that absence does make the heart grow fonder! or miss each other like crazy!
I have gotten 101 questions of why I'm still working....my question to anyone asking is "Why not?" I would rather uncomfortable at work and not be bored...than be at home twiddling my thumbs waiting for our little girl to arrive :-) We are getting more ready by the day and enjoying the quiet time we have together. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of those at Va. Tech and I am once again very blessed to be safe and secure here in Canada!

32 weeks! Wahoo I can't believe I am this pregnant! The best part about this is knowing that We only really have between 7-9 weeks left! I'll make this short and NO I'm not including a picture. Today I tried on a shirt that I haven't warn very much- mostly because it gets so dang cold up here that short sleeve shirts are not always the best. Anyways I purchased it when I was about 5 months pregnant and it had plenty of room...little did I know that even if my bum, legs and arms stay the same size....my belly will eventually not fit in to most maternity clothes. So I put the shirt on...it still fits but seems to be a bit short. Then asked Jonathan for his opinion..and being the nice sweet husband he is told me that "its fine". So I decided I would wear it today one last time. Well one of the guys at my work that loves to make snide comments told me I look like an umbrella! how horrible is that! so I guess that means the shirt really doesn't fit me anymore! Oh the Joys of being pregnant! I guess its good that my dad toughened me up with a good sense of humor growing up or I would have totally cried! Ciao!

Happy April Fools Day!
Well after the past three years of jokingly telling our parents we are pregnant on April Fools Day-its no joke this year! I am 31 weeks pregnant now and I am getting a bit more on the anxious side of having our little girl here! I was told by a person at work on Friday "wow you really got big this week" so of course I can handle this most days so I decided I would have Jonathan take a picture of me...umm yeah I can officially say "I've gained weight!" but luckily it still seems to be mostly in the belly area...so hopefully our little girl will be nice and healthy!

Every weekend we have a ritual of sleeping in until we can't sleep anymore...but for the past few months I haven't been able to play that game very well! After getting up at 2am... 4am... 6:30am and 8am I finally am up and ready for the day! -as Jonathan sleeps like a baby for another couple of hours.
Sunday morning I thought it would be nice to make some breakfast...little did I know that if you put a whole package of bacon into a very evenly heated pan on a brand new stove....it will eventually burn. So after checking on this for a few minutes I sat down to watch the sunday session of General Confrence. All of a sudden my good sense of smell kicked in because the whole kitchen was filled with bacon smoke!!!!!!!!!!! After the countless times of making a yummy -un-burnt breakfast I've officially burnt the bacon! It was sooo bad that today we can still smell it- Luckily Jonathan was nice and patient and helped me cook breakfast. So much for letting him sleep in :-) I was thankful this weekend to have the internet and some good friends that had the correct TV channel! to watch confrence. We didnt realize that our "good deal" of switching cable companies would lead us to search for an alternate place to watch confrence in our p.j.'s! I hope you all had an opportunity to watch the talks especially in the Sunday morning session. I know that the first two talks hit very close to home for Jonathan and I and we are thankful to have the leaders of the church to help guide us. If you havent watched them (or listend to them- go to www.lds.org and click on the links to the General Confrence archives)
Anyways its April now- and yes it definately doesnt feel like it since we received another 3 inches of snow!!!!!! Well go catch a rabit and I'll blog some more next weekend.

Day 72!!!! So Jonathan and I went to our first baby class last night and it seemed to be sort of an introduction to the class. I know Jonathan is going to be a good support to me with the whole Labor and Delivery- but he does get a little nervous when it comes to talking about all the fun stuff I'll have to go through. I did learn something that I need to make everyone aware of- that the baby has a 5 week period that is "normal" for it to be born...so it could be 3 weeks early or 2 weeks late! so I don't want anyone asking us "is she here yet?" if we haven't called you (sorry that might sound harsh and I'm sure I'll want to talk to some of you but we just want to have as little stress as possible.
Anyways- it was a nice short week for the two of us because last weekend we had a last minute trip down to Salt Lake! So much for the whole "lets save" thing because we definitely made up for it down there. We stayed at Jonathan's Dads house and it was nice and relaxing there- we also had a short visit with the Shaffer family and they were so nice they had a last minute get together and our little girl got some very cute outfits and new blankets! I of course spent a small bit on her as well (aahhh little girls clothes are sooooo cute!) and of course right before we left Terry surprised us with a cute little outfit and very very soft blanket! and then we flew back home to the nice new snow storm that happen to arrive Monday night (how convenient)
I am feeling pretty good today but I want to show a quick video of the mess our puppy made. We tried to sleep in this morning and after 4 times outside Corrina seemed to be "bored" so when I got up I noticed the fun time she had... click on the link... http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=-7968188746620726916
Well only a few weeks left of school so they we will really celebrate!

Thursday, March 15, 2007

So I guess the countdown really begins! 80 days to go before our little girl is here- unless she makes an early appearance! As you can see I haven’t been the best at this whole Pregnancy journal thing but I will try and catch you up by showing what a big belly bump I have now! The whole reason I have this picture is a series of pictures my friend, Tanya, from Church took before our last ward activity.

Also I found out that unless the baby is doing something crazy I wont have another ultrasound :-( so for now the only picture you'll see is the 4-D one from 18 weeks. She is kicking a lot and its funny to watch my whole tummy move when she moves around. I hope this whole sleep pattern thing is somewhat untrue- but who am I joking- I am sure that she will be up atleast 4 times a night- like I am right now!

Jonathan is busier than ever with his last big semester of school and new duties at work so I have been trying to keep myself going with the normal every day things. Puppies- bla I wont get into the details- but to summarize: Corrina= TROUBLE! Addie= MOODY! So we'll see how they do when they have a new friend in a few months. I have been pretty indecisive about buying baby things so far because I know what prices are in the states and it’s hard for me to justify spending the money up here if I can get it for half the price! I did decide on crib bedding and my Mom was the greatest ever and purchased it already! As far as our little girl goes...we are NOT giving out the name to anyone! So that will be the only surprise really besides how cute she’ll look.
As far as trips go- i'm staying put here and not taking any chances of traveling...so Jonathan is venturing down to SLC after school is out to attend one of the last Jazz Basketball games and visit his family. I had hoped to go with him earlier but I think stress wise its easier for me to get a few things done around the area- like giving our pups hair cutts and going to the dentist (funn!!!) March is halfway through today and I am so exciting to see warm weather...the snow is beautiful but....seems to go on forever...and ever...and ever (get my drift). See ya soon!
